Overview

Jomsom Muktinath Trek in the lower Mustang region of Nepal is one of those treks in Nepal that greets trekkers with variety in terms of landscape, vegetation, culture and lifestyle. This trek begins from a place called Nayapul located 45km away northwest of the lake city Pokhara. This trip offers opportunity to walk on the Tibetan plateau conquering the altitude of almost 3,800m passing through well cultivated terraced fields, indigenous villages, rhododendron forest, world’s deepest gorge of Kali Gandaki River, apple orchards and finally, treeless and arid land of the lower Mustang region. The trip offers the panoramic view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri, while getting acquainted with the lifestyle and the hospitality of Gurung, Thakali and Sherpa people. In the middle of the trek you can enjoy in a natural hot spring at Tatopani.
As Jomsom, Muktinath lies in the rain-shadow area, the trek can be planned any time of the year. However, planning this trek in between March-May and September-December is considered more fulfilling.
